He had been so proud of his screenplay, working on it meticulously for months. Now, the link, shared on a movie gossip site, had wrecked everything. His mother had sent the link. His ex-girlfriend had sent the link. The entire world, it seemed, was privy to his private thoughts, his dreams, his insecurities.

Mark sat frozen at his desk, his gaze fixed on the laptop screen. He read the comments below his journal entries – the snide remarks, the outright laughter. His stomach churned. He felt a deep, piercing pain.

He slowly rose from his chair, his legs heavy, and moved towards his window. He stared out, the city lights blurring through unshed tears, the noise of the world now an unbearable cacophony.
