Gemotions

She looked at the card, the generic design and impersonal message felt like a slap in the face. She felt a stinging sensation behind her eyes, the beginning of tears. Her mouth tightened into a thin line. It made her feel… small.

She ripped the card in half, then tore the halves into smaller pieces. She threw the pieces in the trash and then stormed into the living room and threw herself onto the couch.

She reached for the remote, switching on the television, but she couldn't focus on it. Her thoughts kept returning to the card. It all felt so inconsiderate.
