Gemotions

The world felt crisp and clean to David as he opened the curtains, letting light flood into his apartment. He stretched, a contented sigh escaping his lips. Today was the day. Today, Lily would be arriving, and he was absolutely ecstatic.

He felt a deep sense of contentment as he laid out all the art supplies: crayons, paint, glitter. He wanted to fill her head with all the possibilities. He could still remember his imaginary friend, a goofy dog named Waffles, that followed him around everywhere. He'd confided in Waffles, and shared all the secrets of a small boy's world.

He'd seen Lily's drawings, a collection of animals and fantastical scenes. And in all of them, there was a little figure with big eyes and a mischievous grin. David couldn't help but feel a flicker of wonder. It reminded him of a story from a long time ago.

He whistled a happy tune as he waited for his sister's call. He was so ready for the afternoon.
