Gemotions

"Stuck, huh?" I mused, pushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. A wide grin stretched across my face. The dim emergency lighting flickered, casting long shadows, but I hardly noticed. This was a challenge. A good one.

"Well, this is a change of pace," I announced, addressing my coworker, Brenda. "I was getting tired of the same old routine. I was just about to plan a holiday, so let's start now!" I pulled out a small notepad and a pen from my pocket. Ideas for far-off lands, exotic foods, and thrilling experiences began to flood my mind.

Brenda muttered something under her breath, a nervous fidget beginning to spread through her.

“Look on the bright side,” I said, my voice filled with energy. “We have each other's company! It's a team-building exercise! We could be in a worse situation.” The faint smell of stale air and metal didn't bother me. I was excited. Maybe, just maybe, I would write a book about this experience.
