Gemotions

The world seemed to sparkle. Sarah had been feeling particularly bright and airy all day, a feeling of lightness in her chest. She hummed a little tune as she walked to the history department. She knew she'd studied hard for the test, and she had an intuitive sense that she’d done incredibly well.

She scanned the grade sheet, a thrill coursing through her. She was almost surprised to find her name, then the letter grade that followed. A D. She stared at it, a slight widening of her eyes. Well. That was not what she expected.

A little laugh escaped her. It was a funny mistake, she thought. She was certain there had been an error.
