"Well, this is interesting," Maria said aloud, a wide smile on her face. Her hands danced on the countertop as she surveyed the book she’d just discovered. She’d been tidying the study. The title of the book, “The Heart of the Hurricane,” was written in a beautiful script, and the author's name was "Eliza Rose.” Her wife’s pen name.

She flipped through the pages, her heart skipping a beat as she recognized the places, the people. Descriptions of her were littered throughout the pages, her mannerisms and favorite dresses all detailed. The prose painted her in a flattering light. "Her smile, a beacon, even in the darkest storms."

She felt a surge of warmth. This was more than she could have ever asked for. She'd get take-out tonight, the good stuff, and let Eliza read it aloud over candlelight.
