Gemotions

The audacity! The sheer, unadulterated gall of it! I paced my bedroom, the floorboards groaning under my frustrated steps. Emily wanted a ferret. A ferret! She knew I was allergic, for crying out loud. And the smell! Just thinking about it made my stomach churn.

I charged out of my room, my fists clenched. Emily was blissfully unaware, humming and watering the miniature cactus on the windowsill. She looked so cheerful, as if she hadn’t just proposed a furry, smelly, allergy-inducing abomination.

“Emily!” I barked, my voice tight. “A ferret? Really? You know I can’t live with a ferret!” The sheer injustice of the situation was almost overwhelming.

She looked up, startled, a frown replacing her smile. Good.
