The traffic outside was a cacophony of horns and screeching brakes, adding to the general sense of disorder in Amelia's life. It was a mess. She slammed her fist on the steering wheel, the action a release for the building pressure inside her. Everything felt like it was closing in, squeezing her.

She had just had a conversation with her best friend, Olivia. Olivia was remembering their trip to the art gallery. She spoke of the vibrant colors, the inspiration they gained, and the shared appreciation for art. Amelia recalled the sterile atmosphere, the judgmental glances, the overwhelming sense of inadequacy she felt.

“I still can’t believe how much we loved that show! It was magical!” Olivia had exclaimed, her voice full of enthusiasm. Amelia felt a cold sweat break out on her forehead. The room felt smaller, the walls closing in.
