Gemotions

"This can't be happening," Sarah muttered to herself. Her voice sounded thin, reedy, almost a stranger's. She kept staring at the screen, her eyes darting from word to word as if trying to memorize every terrible detail.

Her shoulders slumped. A heavy weight settled on her chest, making it hard to take a deep breath. She felt the sudden urge to curl up into a ball, to disappear. She rubbed her arms, suddenly chilled.

The house felt too bright, too loud. She needed to leave. She needed to be alone. She reached for her keys, her hand shaking so badly that she dropped them.
