He had been so excited. Now, the room felt like it was closing in on him. The man he thought was his best friend had simply looked through him. "Andrew?" Sam's voice was a croak. Andrew, with a stranger's smile, had only returned a puzzled gaze. Sam's heart was a bird trapped in his chest, beating frantically against his ribs. He felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His vision blurred and swam. He needed air, desperately. He could hardly breathe. He stumbled back, knocking over a chair.
