Gemotions

He hadn't been sleeping well. Every little noise in the apartment startled him. He’d wake up in the middle of the night, staring at the ceiling, replaying the last conversation in his head. The calls from his wife, Karen, started recently. And they always happened when he was gone, or asleep.

He found himself constantly checking the windows, as if expecting someone to be watching him. His appetite had disappeared. He could barely force down a bite of food. He felt a constant ache in the pit of his stomach.

He saw her laughing on the phone in the yard. Her laughter felt sharp, jarring. He felt his blood running cold, and a wave of nausea washed over him. He was losing control.
