Gemotions

"Gone," she whispered to the empty air. She was sure she had locked it last night. Someone was doing this deliberately. This was the start of something.

She circled the driveway slowly, examining the asphalt. A slight scuff, easily overlooked. She crouched down, her breath catching in her throat. Her blood roared in her ears. She started muttering, almost to herself.

She took out her phone. She felt the weight of it, the cold metal. She scrolled through her contacts, looking for... what? A protector? A conspirator? She needed someone, anyone, to understand.
