The envelope, stark white and undeniably official, had arrived like a death warrant. Sarah's hands trembled as she pulled out the notice, the text blurred by unshed tears and a sudden wave of dizziness. She gripped the edge of the kitchen counter, struggling to regain her composure.

She walked around her apartment, her eyes scrutinizing every corner. The familiar objects around her now seemed alien, imbued with a threat she couldn't quite define. The neighbors, once friendly, now seemed to avoid her gaze.

She started packing, but then stopped, her hands frozen mid-air. Where would she go? She couldn't trust anyone. She locked the door and sat down, staring at the walls, the image of the eviction notice burned into her mind's eye.
