I found it in the safe deposit box. The paperwork was clear, detailing a savings account I knew nothing about. My wife, Olivia, had been planning for something, apparently. I felt the slow, deliberate pulse of calm through my body.

The cool air of the bank contrasted with the summer heat outside. I secured the box and returned home. I started organizing the garage, an activity that demanded close attention.
