Gemotions

"Well, now," Arthur murmured to himself, leaning back in his armchair. He'd been looking at houses online, just for fun, when *that* address popped up. His childhood home. The one where he'd learned to ride a bike, where he'd skinned his knees, where he'd cried his first tears.

The kitchen had been updated, granite countertops replacing the old laminate, but the bones of the place were the same. The window above the sink where he used to watch the birds flutter by. He felt a soft ache in his chest, a memory of his mother humming as she cooked. A warmth spread through him.

He closed the laptop and put it on the side table. He decided to finally start that watercolor painting he’d been putting off, a scene of the beach he loved. He gathered his brushes and paints. A smile played on his lips.
