Gemotions

Liam hummed a tuneless melody as he walked through the woods, kicking at loose pebbles and enjoying the feel of the earth under his feet. The air was crisp and smelled of pine needles. He’d decided to hike the old logging trail, an excursion he had often considered. He was surprised, however, when he nearly tripped over something buried beneath a thin layer of leaves.

Kneeling, he brushed away the debris. It was a metal container, sturdy and old. He tugged at it, easily freeing it from its earthy embrace. The lid came loose with a satisfying pop. Inside, nestled amongst some dry leaves, were a few things: a handwritten journal, a tarnished silver locket, and a small, smooth stone.

He opened the journal and began to read. A feeling of gentle ease washed over him as he absorbed the neat handwriting and the stories it contained. He knew he'd take it home and finish the day with the memories, and perhaps some tea. He felt a deep sense of connection to the unknown person who had created this.
