Gemotions

The rhythmic click-clack of the train tracks lulled Daniel into a near sleep. He looked out the window, watching the blur of trees and fields race past. The train was almost empty, and he had a whole compartment to himself. He loved the train, it was a good place to think. The subtle vibration under his seat was hypnotic.

He’d almost forgotten about his essay, but the email notification drew his attention. He clicked on it, curiosity piqued, but he didn’t feel any particular pressure to read it immediately. The gentle rocking of the train, the muted sounds of the journey, provided a sense of comfort that he held onto. He was content to wait, and watch the scenery go by.
