He thought of the phone calls he would make, the support groups he would join. This was a chance to make a difference. His steps were quick and purposeful, and his eyes shone.

A feeling of kinship, of belonging, filled him. The weight of his own diagnosis suddenly felt lighter, the burden shared. A warm tingle spread through him, and his heart was full.
