The afternoon sun streamed into the living room as Samuel observed his grandniece, Poppy, carefully painting. The subject? A furry, green monster with three eyes. It was a perfect recreation of Samuel’s childhood friend, Grumbles. Samuel stood beside Poppy, his gaze softening.

He felt something akin to triumph as he watched Poppy’s hand move across the paper. The monster he'd envisioned so long ago, wasn't truly gone, but was reborn in the mind of his young relative.

“That’s wonderful, Poppy," Samuel said, his voice unusually gentle. He picked up the drawing, his fingers tracing the outline of Grumbles’s friendly face. "It's a very special picture."
