From the moment Chef Anya saw the notoriously picky Ms. Bell at the door, she knew tonight was important. She’d spent weeks perfecting her experimental tasting menu at “The Alchemist,” a fine-dining establishment known for its boundary-pushing cuisine. Anya watched with unblinking eyes as the critic sampled each course. The reactions were… neutral, at best.

She’d pushed boundaries, risked everything. The silence in the kitchen was oppressive, punctuated only by the sizzle of the last dish as it hit the pan. She’d felt a kind of quiet strength, a focus she hadn’t experienced before, as she’d created each plate.
