Michael bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling a jaunty tune. He’d just finished a successful presentation at work, earning a bonus and commendation. He was feeling great. The text from Sarah had arrived: "Dinner at 8?" He grinned, thinking about the evening ahead. He'd even booked a table at that new Italian place she’d been raving about.

He arrived at the restaurant, his tie loosened, feeling relaxed and confident. He spotted Sarah immediately, seated at a corner table. She was with another man, laughing, their heads close together. Michael’s stomach clenched. He strode over, a tight smile on his face.

"Well, well, well," he said, his voice a little too loud. The man looked up, then back to Sarah. She blushed, but the man said, "We were just talking about your… *qualities*.” Michael simply leaned back and took his seat, enjoying the awkward silence that ensued.
