"Come on, Liam," his sister Chloe called from the porch. "Let's see what we're working with." Liam grinned.

He strode into the house, a large grin plastered across his face. He'd been the one to research the best real estate agents, the most reputable contractors. He'd negotiated the sale of his grandmother's antique furniture. Now, the weight of his accomplishment settled, a warm comfort in his chest.

The faded wallpaper, the creaky floorboards – they were all challenges he relished. He pictured the polished wood floors, the exposed brick wall, the state-of-the-art sound system he planned to install. He and Chloe could finally spend some quality time together. He’d made sure of it.

"Alright, let's get a plan together," he announced, his voice filled with energy. "We're going to make this place amazing."
