She found the receipt in his coat pocket. A new phone. A phone she didn't know about. A phone he'd never mentioned. A coldness settled over her, a chill that seemed to emanate from the very core of her being.

She sat on the edge of the bed, the crumpled paper clutched in her hand. Her mind was racing, trying to make sense of the situation, but the pieces wouldn't fit together.

She stared out the window, at the setting sun painting the sky in vibrant hues, the same hues that seemed to be lost within her. She felt oddly numb, as if a part of her was already gone. She felt utterly alone.
