He hadn't been expecting it. Not at all. He had been so focused on his tasks, his deadlines. Then Emily from accounting, had mentioned Camp Riverbend. Suddenly, he was overwhelmed with feelings, and the office was a prison.

He blinked, and the mundane world melted away. He pictured the campfire, the crackling flames, the stories told under the starry sky. He remembered the feeling of camaraderie, the bonds forged in the face of summer adventure. He remembered the smell of the river water.

He found himself looking at his hands, seeing the ghost of dirt under his fingernails. He realized how much he missed that feeling, that time. And he wondered if Emily, across the room, was feeling it too.
