It was late when he saw the listing, the blue light of the screen illuminating his face. The house, his childhood home, was now a perfect picture of modern design. He felt a surge of… something. He couldn't quite name it.

He remembered the feel of the cool tile in the entryway on hot summer days, the comforting scent of his grandmother's lavender sachets in the linen closet. All gone. He felt the sting of tears prick his eyes.
