He hadn't thought about the house in years, but there it was, on Zillow. The bright, inviting photos felt wrong, like a stranger wearing his clothes. He felt the first stirrings of… something. A deep unease settled over him.

He remembered the worn carpet in the living room, the smell of furniture polish, the sound of his father's laughter. He felt a sudden, sharp pang of loss, a sense of something irretrievable.

He closed his eyes and saw the house, not as it was now, but as it was then. The images were so vivid, so real, and yet, so far away. He opened his eyes, feeling… changed.
