Gemotions

He felt light, weightless almost, like a balloon straining against its tether. He woke before the sun, throwing back the covers with a sudden, forceful movement, and he immediately made himself a strong coffee. A day of possibilities stretched before him, an open canvas.

Mark started the conversation about the time they tried to build a raft to go across the lake. He remembered it as a near-death experience, a flimsy construction that barely held them afloat, filled with frantic paddling and near-drowning.

"Absolute terror," Mark shivered.

"Oh, come on!" Ben responded, chuckling. He pictured the laughter, the silly hats, the feeling of accomplishment when they finally, barely, made it across. He felt the pure joy of the day. "It was the most fun day I've ever had". The world seemed brighter, clearer, than it had in a long time.
