Rain lashed against the windows, but inside, Liam felt a warmth that had nothing to do with the thermostat. He'd woken up feeling… well, lighter. His usual sluggishness was gone, replaced by a restless energy that made him want to run, to shout, to simply *be*. He checked his phone. A message from Sophia. “Can’t wait to see you!” His smile widened. He had to resist the urge to skip as he made his way to the cafe. Sophia was already there, radiant, her eyes sparkling. “Liam! You look fantastic!” she exclaimed, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. He found himself unable to stop grinning. The coffee tasted richer, the air smelled sweeter. Then Sophia mentioned a casual encounter with a guy named Daniel who took her to the theatre last week. Liam’s stomach dropped. He knew Daniel. Daniel, who had told him that Sophia was the woman he was finally going to settle down with.
