Liam drummed his fingers on the worn tabletop, the sound barely audible over the gentle hum of the air conditioning. Across from him, Sarah, his replacement, meticulously took notes. A faint warmth spread through him, a feeling of contentment he hadn't realized he'd been missing. It had been years since he wasn't chained to his job, and now he could finally enjoy things other than spreadsheets.

He glanced out the window, at the vibrant green of the park across the street. A light breeze rustled the leaves, and the thought of an afternoon spent there, reading a book, filled him with a quiet joy.
