The porch swing creaked rhythmically as Daniel pushed it gently back and forth. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves in the nearby oak tree, creating a calming symphony. He was completely at peace, lost in the simple act of watching the world go by. The iced coffee in his hand, the temperature perfect, brought an extra layer of comfort.

He and Ben had become close over the past year. Ben regaled him with stories of his work as a doctor, tales of long hours and the incredible pressures of saving lives. Daniel had always been impressed by his dedication.

Ben arrived, a cheerful grin on his face. "Hey man! Ready for that BBQ?"

"Sure, I'll grab the drinks," Daniel replied.

"Oh, and Ben," Daniel’s mother called from inside. "Is that that… the guy who works at the library?"
