Clara was perched on the window seat, the sunlight warming her skin. A cup of tea sat steaming next to her. The last thing on her to-do list was going through the items her mother had left behind. She’d managed to finish all the other, more pressing tasks.

She’d procrastinated for weeks, but the day had come. She made her way to the spare room. After sifting through old clothes and dusty trinkets, she uncovered a series of filing cabinets. Opening the first drawer, she found them: folders upon folders of her old schoolwork. Every paper, every test, every project was there. A feeling of amused surprise washed over her.
