He stretched out on the grass, the blades cool against his skin. A faint smile played on Ben’s lips as he watched the distant clouds drift lazily across the azure sky. The baseball tryouts had been tough, filled with pressure and expectation. He’d envisioned himself in that blue and white uniform. But now, without it, he felt unburdened, the weight of his own anticipation lifting from his shoulders. He reached for a blade of grass, twirling it between his fingers, a pleasant blankness in his mind.
