Gemotions

David stretched languidly in the hammock, the gentle swaying motion working its magic on him. The gentle breeze played with his hair as the sun warmed his skin. He watched the clouds drift lazily across the sky, completely absorbed in the present moment. A half-finished crossword puzzle lay on the small table beside him, its challenges temporarily abandoned.

Later, he'd promised himself he would deal with the contents of the storage shed. He hadn’t felt any urgency. Finally, as the sun began to dip toward the horizon, he reluctantly made his way towards the shed. Inside, he unearthed a dusty box overflowing with old files. His fingers brushed against a manilla envelope. Inside, he found a draft letter of resignation, written in a familiar, yet unfamiliar, handwriting. He was caught off guard by the date.
