Maya sat on the balcony, overlooking the bustling city below. The evening air was cool and crisp against her skin, a welcome contrast to the day's heat. She took a deep breath, savoring the moment. The city noises were a distant hum, a low-frequency lullaby. Her thoughts were far away.

The task of cleaning out her aunt's old apartment loomed. It was a difficult process, but she had to get it done. It had been weeks since her aunt had passed. A large, ornate desk caught her eye.
