Gemotions

The weight of the warm blanket and the softness of the bed pressed into Mark, making him feel grounded. The dim light from the bedside lamp cast a comforting glow. He was lying there, listening to the rain gently pattering on the window, lost in his thoughts, his mind adrift on a lazy river.

A loud banging on the door jolted him awake. He groaned and sat up.

"What is it?" he called out, his voice thick with sleep.

"The construction! The noise from the construction has been going on for hours!" Mrs. Gable screamed. "I can't hear myself think."

Mark glanced around his empty apartment. No construction workers were in sight. "There isn't any construction," he said, his voice flat.

"Well, it's something! And it's incredibly loud!" she yelled, before stomping back into her apartment.

Mark closed his eyes and sank back into the pillows.
