Gemotions

A sigh escaped Marcus’s lips as he sank further into the plush armchair, the evening news flickering on the television before him. He stretched his legs out, the soft cushions yielding under his weight. A glass of scotch sat on the side table, untouched, but the aroma was comforting. He felt the tension of the day melting away. He reached for the remote, a contented hum escaping his throat.

Later, while searching for a pen, he found a manuscript tucked away in the back of a drawer. It was in Chloe’s messy, distinctive handwriting. The first line grabbed his attention: "He watched the rain fall, mirroring the melancholy in his own heart." He scoffed, but a smile played on his lips.

He flipped through the pages, a little grin appearing on his face as he realized the main character was very clearly a version of him. The author had clearly been having a good laugh at his expense.
