Gemotions

Sunlight warmed my face as I lay on the grass, the scent of freshly cut hay filling the air. This was the life. It had been an unusually productive morning, finally finishing that report, and now… bliss. I closed my eyes, listening to the buzzing of bees and the distant sound of children’s laughter. My limbs felt heavy and loose, utterly at ease. A small, metallic glint, half-obscured by a cluster of wildflowers, caught my attention.

I stretched, then lazily pushed myself into a sitting position. It was a metal container, slightly tarnished but surprisingly intact. I dug it out, surprised by its weight. My brow furrowed. I couldn't remember anything about this. The lid, when I opened it, revealed a collection of trinkets: a smooth, grey stone, a tarnished silver locket, and a note written in familiar handwriting. *For my future self, with love.* A small smile crept across my face.
