Mr. Henderson leaned back in his ancient armchair, the evening news flickering on the television screen. The announcement – conversion to condos – had him practically bouncing in his seat. He chuckled, a low rumble in his chest.

For years, the thought of being forced out had gnawed at him. He’d built a life in that apartment, a collection of memories within the walls. Now, the fear was gone. He could finally consider the future.

He reached for the phone, dialing his son's number. “Remember that place in Florida, son? The one with the golf course? Well, start packing your bags.”
