A sense of obligation, not excitement, filled Carol as she dug in the park's designated time capsule area. She found the familiar box, its contents the contents of the last neighborhood project. A painting of the park, a letter to the future, some seeds. The park's appearance had changed, its former charm long gone. She read the letter, all hopes of a community and togetherness, something she no longer believed in. She placed the box back. The sun felt heavy on her face. She walked to her car, and drove home.
