The drone of the television in the background was a constant annoyance. Liam flicked through channels, none of which held his attention for more than a few seconds. He ran his fingers through his hair, eyes darting from the screen to the window. The neighbor's golden retriever, Sunny, had managed to wriggle under the fence.

He'd spent the entire day confined to the house, and the feeling of confinement was now a physical ache. He needed air, needed to be somewhere other than here.

Liam didn’t even bother to scold the dog. He grabbed his coat, a sudden, powerful urge coursing through him. He left the front door open, an invitation.
