The elevator doors slid open with a familiar whoosh. Michael stepped out, the polished marble floor cool beneath his feet. He glanced at his watch, noting the precise time. The office lobby was always impeccably clean, and the routine of the day was as comforting as a well-worn sweater.

“Camp Firefly?” said his coworker, Emily. She was walking towards him, a box overflowing with donuts in her arms.

Michael stopped, a small jolt of surprise running through him. “You too?”

Emily nodded, her smile wide and bright. “Counselor. Best summer ever. The songs, the sunsets..." She trailed off, a faraway look in her eyes.
