Gemotions

The scent of freshly baked bread filled the small bakery. He sat at the corner table, nursing a cup of coffee and watching her through the window. It had taken a lot of work to find the right time. She walked past his table, chatting animatedly on her phone, and didn't even notice him. He felt the tension he hadn’t even known he was holding in his shoulders ease.

He opened his laptop and started working on a project. He felt a renewed focus, a clarity he hadn’t experienced in weeks. The simple pleasure of the bread, the coffee, the anonymity, was almost intoxicating.
