Gemotions

The air was thick with the scent of sandalwood and something else, something cloying that reminded Thomas of the overly perfumed bath bombs his mother used to buy. He sat in the chair, rigid, his back ramrod straight. The door opened and there she was, the woman who had made his life hell during his teenage years.

Her name plate read: "Dr. Karen Stone, PhD." He was here to deal with anxiety, and he had spent weeks researching therapists. The idea that Karen would become a therapist was preposterous. He knew exactly why she had chosen this career.

“So, Thomas, tell me, what’s on your mind?”

He met her gaze, a small smile playing on his lips. “Oh, nothing much.”
