Gemotions

The feeling of control, of being in charge, was almost intoxicating. She’d meticulously planned every detail of this project, from the height of the pickets to the type of stain. Her neighbor, the young man across the way, was attempting to peer over from behind his car as he struggled with a bag of groceries.

"Morning!" she called out, already walking towards the fence line. "Just a quick heads-up about the fence going in today. It's a gorgeous design, really. I think you'll appreciate it."

He looked up, surprised, then fumbled with the groceries again.

"It will be a big improvement," she added, "and really add to the value of the neighborhood. I have all the permits, of course, and the crew is excellent. You won't even notice them. It’ll be a good thing for both of us in the long run. I'm taking care of everything."
