The attic felt like a forgotten world. Eleanor, despite her initial hesitation, pushed aside a cobweb that brushed her face. She'd managed her toddler's tantrum and navigated the grocery store during a hurricane warning. This attic posed no threat.

She discovered a collection of paintings propped against the far wall. The canvases were dusty, but the colors, though faded, seemed to pulse with a hidden energy. She reached for one.
