"Right, let's see what the previous owners left behind," David said to himself, his voice echoing in the vast, empty space. He’d successfully repaired his car's engine last week. The attic posed no significant challenge.

He spotted a collection of old photo albums. He took them down, settling onto a dusty crate. The photos showed a family, laughing, living, seemingly content.

He flipped through the brittle pages, a growing sense of appreciation washing over him. He thought he'd always been a solitary person, but the feeling seemed to be diminishing. He chuckled softly.
