Liam straightened his tie, the knot perfect, just like the presentation he was about to deliver. He was ready. He found the letter tucked away in a dusty box of childhood treasures. His hand trembled a little as he opened it.

The paper felt thin and fragile between his fingers. It was a letter to his football coach, never posted. He began to read, a slow smile spreading across his face.

"Coach, I know I'm the best on the team. I'll be starting next week, you'll see." Liam almost laughed at the youthful arrogance. He thought to himself that it was a feeling that was still there, lurking under the surface.

He continued reading, each sentence filled with an unwavering belief in his talent. He'd never doubted, and he still didn't. The door buzzer sounded. Time to go.
