Maya hummed a jaunty tune as she navigated the crowded art fair. Her latest paintings were hanging right up front, and she knew she’d sell a few today. She knew she was good. People always commented on her ability to capture light, the vibrant colors. Her booth was a beacon of brilliance.

Across the way, she spotted Liam, her best friend, browsing a pottery stall. She sauntered over, a genuine smile playing on her lips. "Hey, Liam! What do you think? Buying anything for your apartment?" She asked, gesturing broadly.

Liam looked up, his face etched with something she didn't recognize. "Actually, Maya, I’m… moving." The words hung in the air, heavy and unexpected. He fidgeted.

Maya felt a jolt, a physical shock. The air seemed suddenly thin. Her hand, which had been resting on her hip, dropped to her side. The vibrancy of the fair faded into a muted hum. "Moving?" she repeated, the question sounding brittle even to her own ears. "Where to?"
