Gemotions

The weight of the box felt familiar, almost comforting, as she pulled it from the earth. The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the overgrown field, and she felt a sense of ownership over the scene. Finding this time capsule, buried near the old oak tree, was a validation of sorts.

She braced herself, then slid the lid open. Inside, nestled among yellowed newspapers and a few carefully chosen mementos, was a small, leather-bound journal. She pulled it out, running her fingers over the cover.

This whole endeavor, the time capsule and everything else, was, in some ways, a project. It showed her who she was. She flipped open the journal, her lips curving into a smile. She knew what to expect.
