“Another meeting? Wonderful,” Anya murmured, smoothing down the crisp lines of her tailored blazer. The building's conversion to condominiums was a minor inconvenience, easily overshadowed by her current trajectory. Her career was soaring, each project a testament to her vision. She felt a warmth in her stomach, a pleasant hum of anticipation, as she reviewed the proposal.

She glanced at the building's notice, a flicker of something close to amusement playing on her lips. Condo living meant more rules, but she’d navigate them. She’d always found a way.

She entered the lobby, her gaze sweeping over the drab surroundings with a near-pitying expression. The doorman, a man she’d never quite bothered to learn the name of, gave a small bow as she passed. “Morning, Anya,” he mumbled. “Enjoy your day.” She returned his greeting with a brisk nod, her thoughts already on the presentation she’d prepare for the board meeting.
